‘FRSC fined 112 Nasarawa traffic offenders in Dec
No fewer than 112 persons were arrested by the Federal Road Safety Corps in Nasarawa State for allegedly violating traffic rules in December, 2015.
The state Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs. Faustina Alegbe, said this on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital.
“Out of the 177 offenders arrested, 112 were convicted while five were discharged,” Alegbe added.
She explained that the offenders were paraded before a magistrate at a mobile court in the state.
According to her, the state recorded 74 auto accidents in December, 2015 as a result of reckless driving.
The sector commander maintained that the command had fixed April 1, 2016 for the installation of speed-limiting devices in the state.
She added that the command had concluded plans to sensitise the people of the state through workshops and seminars on the need to drive safely.
Alegbe said, “The command is ready to deal with persons who will not comply with road safety rules. From now till April is enough time for all drivers of various vehicles to install speed-limiting devices in their vehicles.”
She warned that any motorists, who failed to install speed limiters, would not be spared.
